You're My Hope

Sometimes I get discouraged; sometimes I wonder
why
It seems to make no difference what I do or what I try
They say things will get better--but no one can tell me when
And sometimes where I’m going looks a lot like where I’ve been
My future is uncertain--my past is just a blur
My present situation is anything but sure
I’ve lost my way so many times, gone off the beaten-track
But every time I wander off, your memory calls me back
(Chorus) You’re my anchor, you’re my hope
You’re the reason I can cope
with all that I put up with every day
You’re my shelter from the storm
You’re the thought that keeps me warm
when everything around me is cold and gray
You’re my conscience, you’re my soul
You’re what keeps me in control
You’re the only peace of mind I’ve ever known
You’re my vision, you’re my spark
You’re my candle in the dark
You’re my heart, you’re my heaven, you’re my home
I looked for truth in people; I looked for truth in books
But mostly what I found wasn’t worth a second look
I’ve looked around the world: Frankfurt, London, Paris, Rome...
When all the time the truth was waiting patiently at home
Sometimes I get so tired--it’s hard to muddle through
When I feel like going nowhere is the best that I can do
There’s only one thing that can find me; that can see through my disguise
It’s the look of love I’ve lost and found--only in your eyes
(Chorus)
